Launch of NCJWA NSW DAYS FOR GIRLS program with the help of Janelle & her team from Days For Girls Ryde area. Over 70 women & girls attended our inaugural day at Council House. We sewed, cut, pinned, packed & sorted items to help girls in developing countries who do not have access to sanitary products. Thank you to the NCJWA NSW DAYS FOR GIRLS team, Maxine, Ruth, Miriam, Karen & Nadene & all the wonderful volunteers who gave their time to help us this afternoon.

NCJWA NSW’s first event for 2018 ~ Morning tea and film, the award winning documentary “The Sturgeon Queens”, hosted by the Progressive Group. “Great movie” was heard many times as the audience clapped loudly after the showing.  

Rebbetzin Gottshall Library Event with renowned producer director MOIRA BLUMENTHAL in conversation with Gael Hammer. We also interactively shared one of the challenges of this producer director, with the support of actor Barry French.

WORLD KINDERTRANSPORT DAY 2017 -The 5th commemoration of the World Kindertransport Day was held at NCJWA Council House on Sunday 3rd December to a crowd of 100 people. Chair of the Kindertransport Association Janet Merkur summarised the history of the Kindertransport and her family connections to it and spoke about her family members who survived the Holocaust.

CELEBRATING ISRAEL – Hosted by Senator David Fawcett Chair of the Australia-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group and Senator for South Australia 29 November 2017 Parliament House Canberra, with guests of honour The Hon Julie Bishop MP Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party and His Excellency Mr Mark Sofer Ambassador of Israel to Australia.

130 people attended the NCJWA Cancer Support Network Morning Tea with guest speaker Petrea King on 6 November ~ Building resilience and emotional intelligence: “The greatest gift you can give yourself, your children, your family and your community is the gift of your own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing”.

120 women gathered at Council House on 5 September to enjoy the charm and humour and cooking of MICHAEL RANTISI of KEPOS STREET KITCHEN and KEPOS & Co. The food was delicious, the raffle draw was exciting and much money was raised to help change the lives of vulnerable women supported through MUM FOR MUM NCJWA. Many thanks to Michael and his partner Kristy Frawley for making such an amazing night possible. See pages 1 & 2 to view all 31 photos.

Birthing Kit Packing Day 2017 – Thank you to the 80+ wonderfully generous volunteers who packed 1,000 Birthing Kits that will be sent to women in developing countries through the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia. Also to Genna Radnan who spoke about Gennarosity Abroad, the charity she founded that educates and provides opportunities for women and girls in Karunga village in Kenya.

Baulkham Hills African Ladies Troupe ~ 140 people gave a standing ovation after watching the inspiring Baulkham Hills African Ladies Troupe documentary and participating in a Q & A with Aminata Conteh-Biger and director Ros Horin at the NCJWA NSW ‘Status of Women’ event 26 March.
