Birthing Kit Packing Days – We were very pleased to have packed 1200 Birthing Kits that will be sent to women in developing countries where access to clean birthing conditions are limited. Our huge thanks go to all the wonderful volunteers who helped pack on Sunday 24 June 2018 and to the exceptional Moriah College students who helped pack 600 kits on Sunday afternoon 8 June 2018. International Council of Jewish Women Quadrennial Convention Sydney May 2018 ~ NCJWA NSW welcomed delegates and friends to the Sydney ICJW Convention “Evolving Beyond Tradition” highlighting the importance of women’s rights.
Day 1 Evolving Beyond Tradition ~ The Impact of Women’s Perspectives and Developing Roles ~ We were privileged to hear the inspirational Professional Gillian Triggs, Former President of the Australian Human Rights Commission talk about Women and Human Rights ~ Dr Anne Morris discussing How Women’s Perspectives are Changing our World ~ Women Within Modern Orthodoxy Pushing Against the Constraints; Chair Hinda Young, Panelists Gael Hammer, Judith Levitan, Talya Wiseman with Session Chair Susie Ivany OAM ~ Vic Alhadeff speaking about Women Attaining Goals and Reaching Beyond.
Day 2 Evolving Beyond Tradition ~ Jennifer Morris presented “Towards Equality – Women Leading Change” ~ Ronni Kahn, Founder and CEO of OzHarvest shared how she is helping to “Save the Planet” ~ Natalie Isaacs, Founder and CEO of One Million Women, explained how we can join her fight against climate change ~ Melinda Tankard-Reist, Co-Founder of Collective Shout, for a World Free of Sexploitation ~ Beyond the Hype! Launch of NCJWA NSW DAYS FOR GIRLS program with the help of Janelle & her team from Days For Girls Ryde area. Over 70 women & girls attended our inaugural day at Council House. We sewed, cut, pinned, packed & sorted items to help girls in developing countries who do not have access to sanitary products. Thank you to the NCJWA NSW DAYS FOR GIRLS team, Maxine, Ruth, Miriam, Karen & Nadene & all the wonderful volunteers who gave their time to help us this afternoon.
NCJWA NSW’s first event for 2018 ~ Morning tea and film, the award winning documentary “The Sturgeon Queens”, hosted by the Progressive Group. “Great movie” was heard many times as the audience clapped loudly after the showing.
Rebbetzin Gottshall Library Event with renowned producer director MOIRA BLUMENTHAL in conversation with Gael Hammer. We also interactively shared one of the challenges of this producer director, with the support of actor Barry French.
WORLD KINDERTRANSPORT DAY 2017 -The 5th commemoration of the World Kindertransport Day was held at NCJWA Council House on Sunday 3rd December to a crowd of 100 people. Chair of the Kindertransport Association Janet Merkur summarised the history of the Kindertransport and her family connections to it and spoke about her family members who survived the Holocaust.
CELEBRATING ISRAEL – Hosted by Senator David Fawcett Chair of the Australia-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group and Senator for South Australia 29 November 2017 Parliament House Canberra, with guests of honour The Hon Julie Bishop MP Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party and His Excellency Mr Mark Sofer Ambassador of Israel to Australia.
130 people attended the NCJWA Cancer Support Network Morning Tea with guest speaker Petrea King on 6 November ~ Building resilience and emotional intelligence: “The greatest gift you can give yourself, your children, your family and your community is the gift of your own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing”.

120 women gathered at Council House on 5 September to enjoy the charm and humour and cooking of MICHAEL RANTISI of KEPOS STREET KITCHEN and KEPOS & Co. The food was delicious, the raffle draw was exciting and much money was raised to help change the lives of vulnerable women supported through MUM FOR MUM NCJWA.
